The William Harvey
Research Foundation recognises the key role research training
plays in enabling scientists to undertake high quality research
at the cutting edge of their chosen field. For this reason
considerable emphasis is given to supporting research studentships
as one of the Foundation’s priority areas.
PhD studentships
During the past 15 years the William Harvey Research Foundation
has supported more than 50 PhD studentships. After accomplishing
high quality research projects in the William Harvey Research
Institute many have gone on to pursue high flying careers
in academia and the pharmaceutical industry.
Masters of Research training programme – Mechanisms
of Vascular Disease
Sequencing of the human genome has provided a wealth of
new knowledge on previously unknown genes and the protein
products they code for. The integration of this information
into a full understanding of the causes and mechanisms of
disease requires scientists with skills in modern molecular
and biochemical methods combined with an ability to use traditional
techniques of research using disease models. Because of the
dearth of scientists with such expertise the William Harvey
Research Institute has established a Masters of Research training
programme to meet this need. The William Harvey Research Foundation
recognises this as a high priority that can only be fulfilled
with adequate funding and is therefore pleased to be supporting
studentships to underpin this key training programme.
